Best Picture #11- "You Can't Take it With You"

The 11th Best Picture winner was Columbia's slight screwball comedy called You Can't Take it With You, starring Jimmy Stewart and directed by Frank Capra.

The film earned Frank Capra his third Oscar in five years and established his repertory of sorts with Lionel Barrymore and Jimmy Stewart taking roles in the film. (They would all later reteam on It's a Wonderful Life.) The film would be the highest grossing movie of the year in a rare moment where popular opinion meshed with The Academy's sensibilities.
