A "Best Boy" in Hollywood is typically a lead lighting or equipment assistant. As the lead lighting assistant, he or she would assist the lighting director in acquiring the appropriate equipment to light a scene properly. As the lead equipment assistant, he or she would do the same, but with pretty much everything else- camera rigs, dollies, etc.
